Study Abroad Experiences

Study Abroad Student Reflections, Salzburg College, Austria, Spring 2026

Finding Local Connections

"Today a local came up to me to tell me he thought my eyes were really pretty. I was waiting for my bus and we had a short conversation about studying here before I had to get on my bus. He was really nice and I really wasn’t expecting the compliment. He had a German shepherd with him too, and the dog was really cute."

Everyday Campus Life Abroad

"I had to sprint to the bus stop with a heavy bag of filming gear for one of my classes this morning. It reminded me of sprinting up the hill to my school bus stop in elementary school. It was a great start to the morning."

Sketching by the Riverbank

"Currently sitting along the riverbank drawing the buildings across the water. There is someone to my left also drawing and I think they might be sketching me because they keep looking over my way. I love being a random stranger’s reference."

Reflecting on the Journey Home

"I didn’t really feel homesick during my first month here, but in these last thirty days I am really feeling it. I’ve loved every second of my time here, but I am starting to look forward to going home. I adjusted to living here and it feels normal, but it gets a little lonely when everyone you know is seven hours behind."
